FEATURED RECIPIENT
Enriching lives through the gift of music
The Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund is an important supporter of the Oregon Symphony’s programs that reach community members in schools, community centers, libraries, retirement communities, and other venues throughout our region.
The Fund’s partnership enables the Oregon Symphony to bring music and inspiration to tens of thousands of K-12 students across the region, many of them from Title 1 schools and under-served backgrounds. It also provides the funding the Oregon Symphony needs to work towards achieving one of its core goals—increasing opportunity for students in the community to experience, learn from, and perform music. The grant is helping make music accessible to all at an early age.
Deepening community engagement
“This very generous support will help us in our efforts to broaden and deepen our engagement with the community we are proud to serve.”
–Shane Jiminez, Manager of Foundation and Corporate Giving, Oregon Symphony
The Impact
Through music education and orchestra performances, the Oregon Symphony’s programs annually serve more than 36,000 K-12 students throughout the school year, with approximately 22,000 of those participating for free. Additionally, they are able to provide free bus transportation for 4,500 students from Title 1 schools to attend performances in the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, increasing the ability for under-served members of the community to experience and benefit from the arts.
